A Weaver’s Challenge
Hi there!
I always handle multiple tasks at the same time. While I’m making loop yarns, I also weave other fabrics on the looms and work on new designs based on client requirements—and more! I’m able to multitask efficiently because I know how to use looms, twisters, and design systems.
Lately, I’ve been struggling with a new design. My client asked for a new type of fabric, but instead of sending a design, they sent me the actual fabric sample. It looks really complicated, and I’ve found it difficult to describe or interpret the fabric structure. Still, they always expect me to figure it out. They usually just say, “We’ll leave it to you!” Honestly, it’s my pleasure!
I’ve been working as a textile engineer for 12 years, and I truly love creating intricate textiles—haha!
Whenever I get a new project, I start by imagining the finished fabric. Then, I work on creating the weaving data to match that vision. It’s not an easy process—it involves a lot of trial and error. After I complete the technical part, I also think about the best way to express and communicate the fabric’s features. It’s like solving a mystery!
I always trust my ability and never give up until I’ve created the ideal fabric. I do my best to express a perfect result—but right now, I’m definitely struggling with this one… haha!
